Leadership Essentials

Methodist is committed to investing in its people and setting them up for success.

A key part of that effort is the Organizational Development (OD) team’s work providing valuable professional development opportunities for all health system employees.

A recent example was the highly successful Leadership Essentials pilot program at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital and the 825 Building. A diverse group of more than 35 attendees from across Methodist attended this leadership development program and heard from Methodist senior leaders about their leadership journeys, took part in activities and discussions, and were exposed to leadership content.

“Not only was this a great way of learning new tools and methods for leading my team, but I was also able to brush up on leadership tactics I had previously learned,” said Trevor Mayberry, Director of Facility Operations at Jennie Edmundson. “My favorite topics were how to lead meetings in a meaningful way, the different personalities we encounter as leaders and how best to work with them, and the importance of goal setting for yourself and your team. The instructors were great, and the training environment was perfect for keeping us all engaged.”

Leadership Essentials Goes Systemwide

Now the OD team is ready to launch Leadership Essentials across the health system. This development opportunity is intended for those who manage others and will offer attendees engaging, resource-driven and foundational skill building. The program is designed to help leaders enhance their communication, increase their productivity and gain new core skills they can put into practice that same day.

Topics will include:

  • Conflict resolution
  • Feedback
  • Coaching
  • Tips on how to conduct a compelling presentation
  • Time management
