Six Methodist Hospital nurses were recently recognized as 40 Under 40 honorees at the Nebraska Nurses Association Annual (NNA) Convention in Lincoln.

Methodist nurses honored are:

  • Jessie Ferris, MSN, RN, PCCN
  • Tara Finkral, BSN, RN-BC
  • Tyler Hedlund, BSN, RN
  • Michelle Peacock, MSN, RN, GERO-BC
  • Karissa Thompson, MSN, RN-BC
  • Madelyn Vogel, BSN, RN

As a joint recognition, the NNA and the Nebraska Organization for Nursing Leadership (NONL) select 40 nurses under 40 years old who are currently licensed as RNs or LPNs from across the state.

“There are a lot of publications and organizations nationwide that do similar nominations each year,” said Kim Houtwed, NNA executive director. “We wanted our nominees to stand apart as a group of young professionals who significantly or uniquely contribute to leadership within the nursing profession through clinical practice, education and teaching, administrative leadership, research, writing/publishing, policy involvement/self-governance, and/or health care innovation.”

She added: “They positively promote and advance the nursing profession in the community through volunteerism or outreach efforts and are involved in local/state/organizational policy development or legislative work.”
