Healing Touch course completion

Congratulations to the five Methodist Hospital employees who recently completed Healing Touch Course 1.

Healing Touch is a nonpharmacological approach to pain management. The gentle, nurturing, compassionate form of energy therapy aims to complement the body’s natural ability to heal.

Employees completing the two-day course were:

  • Sara Baird, nurse coordinator in the PACU
  • Jerilyn "J" Buresh, chaplain
  • Taylor Busch, service leader for Ortho/Neuro
  • Ann Mannschreck, occupational therapist
  • Stacey Ruff, presurgery RN

The class was led by Jane Bies, BSN, RN, CHHC, CHTP/I, a certified Healing Touch practitioner and instructor. Healing Touch RNs Jean Chase Miller and Nikki Stanley were also instrumental in helping the course run smoothly.

In a survey after the class, one participant wrote:

"This course was very enlightening and has inspired me to use these techniques to improve the quality of life for my patients."

Another wrote: "I plan to use this with family and patients to provide more well-rounded care."
