The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently announced that a booster dose at least six months after the completion of Moderna vaccination is recommended as the nation and community continue their efforts against COVID-19.

This follows similar news about the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. The booster guidelines for Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech impact those 65 and older and those 18-64 who have underlying medical conditions and/or work or live in an environment that increases their risk of transmission or exposure – such as health care workers.  For those who received the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine, booster shots are also recommended for those who are 18 and older and who were vaccinated two or more months ago. Read the guidelines here.

Methodist Health System will be offering Moderna booster doses for employees who received the initial two-dose course of Moderna and had their second dose at least six months ago. Clinics will be conducted in a similar manner to those for the initial doses and flu shot clinics.
