School is back in session. Under normal circumstances, this time of year comes with excitement for new beginnings and getting settled into new routines. This year, families are trying to prepare for an unknown future while praying that their loved ones stay safe and healthy.

As we head into the fall and winter, we encourage managers and employees to have open and trust-based conversations about work-life balance during this time. When possible, we ask you to consider creating temporary arrangements that allow employees the flexibility they need during this time while still ensuring that work is complete, productivity is maintained and expectations are managed appropriately. Human Resources (HR) is working on tools to help facilitate these conversations, with the goal of aligning expectations and needs around schedules and flexibility.

It is imperative that we all continue contributing to the success of Methodist Health System and supporting our colleagues on the front lines of the COVID-19 epidemic. Frequent communication is key to managing change. Watch for more information in the coming weeks, and reach out to HR if you have questions in the meantime.
