Nebraska Methodist College Announces New Program: Online Doctor of Education

Published: Oct. 10, 2016

Nebraska Methodist College (NMC), an affiliate of Methodist Health System, is launching a new doctorate program: an online EdD in Education & Leadership in Healthcare that prepares graduates to work as leaders in both academic and healthcare settings. The application process is now open, and classes begin August 2017.

The online format allows students to advance their educational goals while balancing personal and professional responsibilities. Students still have assignments on a regular basis, with the flexibility to choose precisely when (and where) to complete them. The degree can be completed in just 24 months of full-time study.

This is NMC's first non-nursing doctorate and the first regional program of its kind to forego the antiquated dissertation process. The Capstone takes the place of the lengthier and more research-intensive dissertation process, long the standard of the Doctoral degree. NMC's emphasis on the Capstone represents a modern approach to a candidate’s final demonstration of expertise in the subject matter, allowing students to apply theory to solve problems in a real-world practical setting. All of this is accomplished without losing any of the academic rigor that one would expect of a Doctoral program.
