Congratulations to the three Methodist employees who recently completed Healing Touch Course 1.

Healing Touch is a nonpharmacological approach to help manage pain, ease anxiety and more. The gentle, nurturing, compassionate form of energy therapy aims to complement the body’s natural ability to heal.

Employees completing the two-day course were:

  • Brooke Killeen, BS, RT (R)(T), a radiation therapist at Methodist Estabrook Cancer Center
  • Janice Koukol, BSN, RN, a nurse in pre/post-surgery at Methodist Hospital
  • Shey Olvera Espinoza, RN, a nurse on the Progressive Care Unit at Methodist Hospital

The class was taught by Jane Bies, BSN, RN, CHHC, CHTP/I, a Healing Touch nurse at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women’s Hospital. Michelle Alloway, a nurse at the Methodist Community Health Clinic, was also instrumental in helping the course run smoothly.

In a survey after the class, some participants wrote:

  • “I am so glad I attended. The course was very well presented, and I feel confident in the knowledge received.”
  • “This was beyond what I expected, and I can’t wait to learn more.”
  • “Wonderful class! My back and wrist feel so much better.”
  • “Beautifully presented by instructor. Each area was well practiced and questions welcomed and answered completely.”
