Celebrating Environmental Services Week: EVS Supervisors Applaud Their Teams

Environmental Services Week

During Environmental Services (EVS) Week, Sept. 10-16, we recognize the hard work and dedication of over 250 EVS and linen professionals across Methodist Health System.

EVS employees are often referred to as the first line of defense in infection prevention for their work in keeping patients, guests and staff safe. Methodist’s EVS staff includes cleaning techs and linen distribution techs, and their focus on maintaining health care environments that are free of surface contamination is integral to safe, efficient and effective operations across the system.

To highlight the work done Methodist EVS professionals, we asked their supervisors to share what makes them so special:

“It’s a physically demanding job, but we work as a team. We all know each other, and we’re a family. We’ve had difficult times – the hardest were during the pandemic – but the work is quite rewarding. What we have is truly unique, and it’s a very important factor in ensuring the best environment each day for employees, patients and families. I'm thankful for every member of the EVS team!” – Lupita Hernandez, director of Environmental Services at Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital

“From the linen we provide to the room being dust free, we treat each area as if it was for our family member next. When someone walks in and sees the clean environment, they feel more comfortable. The work my team does is detailed and can be difficult. I’m thankful for their dedication providing a safe, clean environment for patients, visitors and coworkers.” – Danielle Warner, director of Environmental Services and Linens at Methodist Fremont Health

“Our EVS staff members make sure that our rooms are clean so patients don’t acquire infections while they’re here. They aren’t just here for a paycheck. Day in and day out, they’re here for the patients. I’m thankful for all they do!” – Russ Dimmock, director of Environmental Services at Methodist Hospital

“I have the most amazing staff. They come every day dedicated to keeping Methodist Women’s Hospital clean and safe for our patients, families and staff. Each and every one of them takes great pride in their work and understands how important their job is in preventing infections. I couldn’t be more proud to be the leader of such a hardworking team!” – Lori Hrbek, director of Environmental Services at Methodist Women’s Hospital

Thank you, EVS team members, for all you do to show The Meaning of Care!
