Jennie Edmundson Spirit of Courage Celebration Is Aug. 4-5

Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital and the Jennie Edmundson Foundation have teamed up again for the 21st annual Spirit of Courage celebration.

Since 2003, our annual Spirit of Courage events have raised over $2 million. One hundred percent of the proceeds are donated to the Spirit of Courage Cancer Center Charitable Patient Care Fund, which assists uninsured and underinsured patients who need help covering expenses associated with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. This fund assists patients by paying for medications, treatments and deductibles as well as everyday living expenses such as groceries, rent and gas. Without this type of financial help, many vulnerable members of our community would need to forgo vital treatments and/or medications.

This Year's Celebration

This year's gala is at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs on Saturday, Aug. 5., at 6 p.m.

The Spirit of Courage Celebrity Golf Tournament is Aug. 5 at Dodge Riverside Golf Club in Council Bluffs. Registration is at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9.

Each year, Spirit of Courage celebrates and honors four individuals who join us and share their stories of courage during their battles with cancer. This year, we'll honor Rita Epperson, Brent Malskeit, Fran Shorey and Marlene Turner. We'll also recognize and honor all past recipients.
