Middle-Schoolers Can Learn About Health Care Careers This Summer at NMC

Nebraska Methodist College (NMC) has a unique opportunity for middle school students to learn about health care careers during a camp this summer.

Students will learn firsthand about nursing, occupational therapy, surgical technology, phlebotomy, sonography and respiratory therapy.

The camp will include hands-on activities, tours and simulations led by NMC’s knowledgeable faculty, staff and students.

The camp is from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 24-27.

Students will:

  • Experience college courses and talk to instructors about health care professions.
  • Learn about health care careers.
  • Go behind the scenes with field trips and interactive sessions at Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women’s Hospital.
  • Test their skills in wound care, basic anatomy, taking vitals, reading X-rays and ultrasound scans, and more.

Campers must pack a bag lunch Monday-Wednesday. NMC provides lunch on Thursday and snacks in the afternoons.

Drop-off begins at 8:15 a.m., and pickup ends at 4:15 p.m.

The cost is $225. A $125 deposit is required at registration. The $100 balance is due by June 30.
