Methodist Hospital's Revamped Emergency Department Will Allow Us To Serve Our Community for Years to Come

A message from Josie Abboud, FACHE, president and CEO of Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women's Hospital

This week marks a very exciting time in the history of Methodist Hospital. I’m proud to announce that the $26.7 million renovation and expansion of our Emergency Department is now complete and will begin serving patients in our community in the coming weeks.

With the completion of construction, the Emergency Department has nearly doubled in size from 11,500 square feet to 22,000 square feet. We have also doubled our patient rooms from 12 to 24. More importantly, we have a much safer and more efficient emergency department for our staff and patients.

The volume of patients we see on a daily basis has only continued to increase. The Emergency Department provides a tremendous service to our community, and this expansion and renovation was desperately needed. This project marks the first structural improvements to the space since 1995!

There are many people to be thanked over the course of this three-year, six-phase project. Tremendous thanks to Methodist Hospital Foundation for its efforts to raise the money needed for the project. From community donors to our own employees, you all helped make this possible.

Another big thank-you to our Emergency Department staff. This project progressed in a way that allowed our team to never stop caring for our community. Our doors remained open throughout the improvements. It wasn’t easy, but you all did an incredible job, and I’m very grateful for your dedication.

Caring for our community is essential to what we do, and now we can do so in a safer, more improved space. Please enjoy the above video, a sneak peek at the beautiful new Methodist Hospital Emergency Department.
