Stop the Bleed: Join Us for Training Courses That Can Save Lives

Published: Jan. 6, 2023
Stop the Bleed

In an emergency, minutes count. Severe hemorrhaging can lead to death in as little as five minutes, but knowing when and how to use a tourniquet can save lives.

Stop the Bleed is a national program that teaches appropriate tourniquet use and bleeding control. The program offers instructor and participant courses that each take less than 90 minutes to complete. It’s time well spent, as the skills acquired can mean the difference between life and death during active shooter events, car accidents or even accidents at home.

In the instructor course, you’ll learn how to teach others the skills they need to control bleeding. Topics include pressure application, improvised tourniquets, wound packing and formal tourniquet application.

In the participant course, you’ll learn how to correctly apply pressure, how to pack a wound to control bleeding and how to apply a tourniquet correctly.

Why Take a Stop the Bleed Course?

Methodist Emergency Management is striving to develop a team of Stop the Bleed instructors across Methodist. We invited you to be a part of a sustainable program that will teach Stop the Bleed skills to Methodist employees, Nebraska Methodist College students and, potentially, members of the community.

Additionally, at Methodist we have a commitment to our community. Stop the Bleed skills will allow you to better serve your friends, family, neighbors and colleagues in any situation. Whether you witness a car accident or encounter someone in need, we want you to be prepared with the knowledge and tools to serve.
