The Good Catch Award is designed to recognize staff members committed to patient safety.

This recognition is presented regularly and goes to the department in which the good catch occurred. Nominations for the award are taken from reported variances where a near miss is caught. Those variances are flagged for consideration of this award. A near miss is an incident or event that has occurred and had the potential to cause harm but was caught before it reached the patient.

Annie Rodgers
Registered Nurse, Progressive Care
Methodist Hospital

"Annie Rodgers received a head and neck surgery patient from the PACU. Annie did her first assessment, noticing the patient's swelling. Annie got in touch with the head and neck nurse practitioner immediately (Jill Hunt). The patient went emergently to the OR for a hematoma evacuation. Annie and Jill were both quick to get help, which led to the patient not losing an airway. Great job to Annie and Jill."

Rodgers is also a Nebraska Methodist College graduate. Congratulations, and thank you for your commitment to keeping our patients and staff safe!
