In his Aug. 12 Leadership Update message, Steve Goeser, president and CEO of Methodist Health System, announced that Methodist would join the other health systems in Omaha and the Omaha Metropolitan Health Care Coalition area, as well as other professional societies, in mandating COVID-19 vaccination for all health system employees, including contracted staff, employed and contracted physicians/providers, and volunteers.

It should be noted that vaccines are being required by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) for all Medicare and Medicaid providers.

As a reminder, the first deadline associated with the mandate is Friday, Oct. 15

To be compliant, unvaccinated leaders/supervisors MUST submit documentation of full vaccination OR have submitted an accepted exemption request from Human Resources.

This will be followed by the Monday, Nov. 1, deadline in which unvaccinated staff, physicians/providers (contracted/employed) and volunteers must submit documentation of full vaccination OR have submitted an accepted exemption request from Human Resources.

These deadlines are firm, and the consequences of not being in compliance include a potential hold on your pay increase as well as corrective action. It’s recommended that you are compliant by Oct. 27.

Please do not wait until the last minute to take action. Any proof of vaccination or exemption forms that come in after Oct. 27 are not guaranteed to be processed in time for the increase to be included on your Nov. 5 paycheck.

You will find the updated vaccination policy, as well as the exemption form, on a new announcement page on the intranet. If you have questions or need clarifications, you may contact members of our Employee Relations and Employee Health team:
