Sarah Noordam, BSN, RN, from the Methodist Hospital Oncology unit, was honored at a recognition ceremony on Thursday, March 3, as the March DAISY Award winner for Methodist Hospital and Methodist Women's Hospital.

She was nominated for the honor by a patient who described Sarah as "a beautiful soul" and someone who "goes above and beyond the job of a nurse."

The patient expressed amazement and appreciation over the care received, thanking Sarah for sharing "HUGE strength, hope and the unbelievable gift of love, concern and a truly genuine desire to take care of me."

The personal connection that that was forged deeply impacted the patient, helping to ease an extremely difficult cancer journey.

"Sarah had just lost her mother to cancer, yet was helping ME through the broken heart I have due to this disease taking me away from my children. Her hugs lifted my spirits and brought hope in the worst of times," the patient wrote. "Methodist Hospital captured a gem of a nurse and a woman overall. Bless her heart for blessing mine. I think of her compassion and care each day since I met her. The genuine love and time she invested in just me is PRICELESS."
