In 2020, the American Heart Association (AHA) extended recertifications for BLSACLS, and PALS from March until August 2020 due to COVID-19.

Because of this extension, there will be over two times the normal amount of students trying to renew this upcoming July and nearly three times the normal amount of students trying to renew in August. Because of this, we're asking for help to spread out recertifications.

All staff members with AHA certifications (including BLS, ACLS and PALS) that expire in August will need to register for classes in the following months, according to your last name:

June: Staff with last names starting with letters O-R
July: Staff with last names starting with letters S-V
August: Staff with last names starting with letters W-Z

August will also be when we recertify anyone who may not have registered according to their last name in the previous months.

Please see the BLSACLS, and PALS calendar links to find a class to fit your schedule.

We will still offer initial BLSACLS, and PALS classes for new staff or people changing roles who need an initial class. Don’t forget that we offer a BLS and ACLS combo class that allows staff to obtain both recertifications in one class.

We currently have the schedule open for June, July and August. Please register for classes if your last name starts with the letters O-Z. The remaining months will open for registration approximately three months prior to the start of the month.

It's imperative that employees participate in the renewal schedule to ensure that they can take advantage of the free AHA certification courses offered to them as Methodist employees.
